GPL Event Report
The GPL (Gnanam Premier League) was conducted at the Gnanam School of Business. It was a cricket tournament held on the GSB campus. The event consisted of four teams: Sengipatti Super Singams, Chola Knight Riders, Maratha Royals, and Delta Daredevils. I was a member of the Sengipatti Super Singams team, led by our captain, Mr. Jaiseelan.
The players were selected through an auction conducted by the team captains and owners. This auction was organized by the Fintrostra Club. The entire GPL event was coordinated by all the clubs in GSB, including both academic and non-academic clubs. This event helped in building team coordination and enthusiasm among the students.
The decisions, rules, and regulations for the tournament were formulated by the GPL Committee and the GPL Commissioner. All major decisions regarding the event were taken by this committee. Umpiring was handled by the seniors from the Deming’s batch.
The league matches were held from 21/04/2025 to 23/04/2025. Each team played three league matches, and based on the points and run rate, they qualified for the semifinals. Out of the four teams, only three qualified for the semifinals, and one team was eliminated. In this season, Maratha Royals were eliminated from the tournament, and the remaining three teams moved on to the next stage.
My team, Sengipatti Super Singams, finally qualified for the finals and emerged as the runners of this GPL season. The pillar of our team was Mr. Saifullah, my favorite player of the season. He performed extraordinarily both as a batter and a bowler. All my teammates were very cooperative in team decisions, which helped us reach the finals successfully.
Our team owners were Dr. Aranganathan and Dr. Issac Jhonny, Assistant Professors at GSB. Their contribution to this season was immense. They played in the playing XI squad along with the students. Our beloved CEO, Dr. Arul Doss, was also one of the players in the Delta Daredevils team.
Refreshments during the matches were provided by all academic and non-academic clubs. Each club also gave out several rewards and prizes to the players at the end of the matches. DJ music and commentaries were handled by the students, and each team had cheerleaders to motivate the players during the matches.
This entire event was initiated and managed by the girl students, showcasing great leadership and organizational skills. Overall, the GPL event provided us with a new and memorable experience, teaching us valuable lessons in patience, focus, strategy, perseverance, confidence, encouragement, and much more. It truly was one of the most unforgettable events of campus life at GSB.
Thank you.
